Information on Abstract Submission for Hong Kong Pharmacy Conference 2025

General Information:

  • Abstracts related to any one of the following topics will be considered: Community Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy, Institutional / Clinical Pharmacy, Integrative Medicines / TCM, Medication Safety / Pharmacovigilance Pharmacy Education, Pharmacy Informatics, Pharmacogenomics and Pharmaceutical Technology.
  • The type of abstract may include:
    1. Descriptive reports of new or innovative pharmacy roles or services and
    2. Evaluative studies – original research, including clinical research, surveys, drug-use evaluations, pharmacoeconomic studies, and evaluation of innovative pharmacy services and/or educational programs.
  • There is a limit of one submission per presenting author.
  • The presenting author must complete the online Abstract Submission Application Form. Abstract submission by fax or post will NOT be accepted.
  • Abstract submission deadline is 18:00 on 15 December 2024 (Sunday).
  • The presenting author will be notified by email of acceptance of their papers by 8 January 2025 (Wednesday).
    1. Shortlisted presenters for oral presentations will be invited to give 8 minutes presentation at the Conference.
    2. Shortlisted presenters for poster presentations will be invited to produce their poster(s) for display at the Conference and deliver 2 minutes presentation to the judges.
  • The presenting author is required to register on or before 15 January 2025 (Wednesday) to confirm his/her participation in the poster presentation. The registration must be valid on both days of the Conference.
  • Expenses associated with the submission and presentation of the paper are the responsibility of the presenters.
  • Research that has been published or presented at any national or international meetings prior to this Conference is discouraged.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published as submitted and distributed at the Conference. Changes to abstracts will not be accepted after the submission deadline.
  • The Conference reserves the right to make minor editorial changes on the abstracts.
  • After the Conference, presenters are highly encouraged to submit a full paper for publication in the Hong Kong Pharmaceutical Journal (editor@hkpj.org).

Guidelines for Preparation of Abstract:

  • Title of abstract: Capitalize the first letter of each noun
  • Author list: The author's name should be listed in the order of First Name and then Last Name (i.e. Tai-man Chan)
  • Affiliation list: Institution, City, State/Province, Country
  • The text must be organized as follows:
    1. Objectives
    2. Methods
    3. Results
    4. Conclusions
  • The abstract, excluding title and author and affiliation lists, should be no more than 300 words.
  • The abstract should not include tables or figures.
  • Abstract submissions and presentations should be in English.

Criteria for Evaluation of Abstracts:

The abstracts will be selected for oral or poster presentations, based on the following criteria:

  • Originality of the project or research
  • Appropriateness of the methods
  • Validity of the results and conclusions
  • Clarity of the presentation
  • Utility of the data and / or significance of the work

Presentation Format:

  • Five best abstracts will be selected for oral presentation at the Conference. The selected presenters will be notified by email before 5 February 2025 with details on the exact time of presentation. Each presenter will allocate 8 minutes for presentation followed by 2 minutes for Q & A.
  • Shortlisted presenters for poster presentations will be invited to produce their poster(s) for display at the Conference and deliver 2 minutes presentation to the judges at the Conference.

Best Oral Presentation Award:

  • There will be ONE Best Oral Presentation Award 2025.
  • The selection criteria include originality, content and presentation style.
  • The best oral presentation can win the prize consists of free registration to Hong Kong Pharmacy Conference 2026.

Best Poster Presentation Award:

  • There will be TWO Best Poster Awards 2025.
  • The selection criteria include originality, content and presentation style.
  • The best poster presentation can win the prize consists of free registration to Hong Kong Pharmacy Conference 2026.
