Information on Abstract Submission for Poster Presentation
Hong Kong Pharmacy Conference 2012

General Information on Poster Presentation:
Abstracts related to any one of the following topics will be considered: Community Pharmacy, Institutional / Clinical Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmacy Education, Pharmacy Informatics, Medication Safety / Pharmacovigilance, Integrative Medicines / TCM, Pharmacogenomics, and Pharmaceutical Technology.
The type of presentation may include: 1) Descriptive reports of new or innovative pharmacy roles or services and 2) Evaluative studies – original research, including clinical research, surveys, drug-use evaluations, pharmacoeconomic studies, and evaluation of innovative pharmacy services and/or educational programs.
There is a limit of one poster per presenting author.
The presenting author must complete the online Abstract Submission Application Form. Abstract submission by fax or post will NOT be accepted.
Abstract submission deadline is 26 November 2011.
Authors will be notified by email of acceptance of their papers by 30 November 2011.
The presenting author is required to register before 31 December 2011 to confirm his/her participation in the poster presentation. The registration must be valid on both days of the Conference.
Expenses associated with the submission and presentation of the poster is the responsibility of the presenters.
Research that has been published or presented at any national or international meeting prior to this conference is discouraged.
Accepted abstracts will be published as submitted and distributed at the Conference. Changes to abstracts will not be accepted after the submission deadline.
The Conference reserves the right to make minor editorial changes on the abstracts.
After the Conference, presenters are highly encouraged to submit a full paper for publication in the Hong Kong Pharmaceutical Journal (editor@hkpj.org).
Instruction for Authors:
The format of the abstract is as follows:
Title of abstract
Author list: Surname, First/Middle initial(s); underline the name of the presenter
Affiliation list: Institution, City, State/Province, Country
Abstracts must be organized in single-spaced paragraphs without indent as follows:
1) Original Research Reports - Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions
2) Pharmacy Practice/Education Reports – Background, Program Description, Outcomes, Implications
The abstract, excluding title and author and affiliation lists, should be no more than 300 words.
The abstract should not include tables or figures.
Abstract should be typed single-spaced using 12-point font of Times New Roman and saved in MS Word format.
Abstract submissions and presentations should be in English.
Criteria for Evaluation of Abstracts:
1) Original Research Reports
  Objectives are clearly stated.
  Research design, data sources and data analysis are appropriate and transparent.
  Results are transparent and comprehensible.
  Conclusions are consistent with the objectives and the results.
2) Pharmacy Practice/Education Reports
  Relevance to pharmacy practice/education locally and worldwide.
  The program is described in sufficient clarity.
  Results or accomplishments of the program are clearly described.
  Implications clearly state the importance to current or future pharmacy practice/education.
Presentation of Posters:
All posters must be available for viewing beginning at 2:00 pm, Saturday 4 February 2012 and ending at 2:30 pm, Sunday 5 February 2012.
Posters are presented at the times designated in the final program booklet.
The presenting author must be present during the Poster Display on both days to answer questions from the audience.
Dimensions of the poster board will be sent along with the acceptance letter.
Please bring 50 handouts of your presentation material for distribution.
Best Poster Award:
One poster will be selected for the Best Poster Award 2012.
The prize consists of free registration to Hong Kong Pharmacy Conference 2013 for a maximum of three authors.
The selection criteria include originality, content and presentation style.
